San Francisco to Buenos Aires - leave July!!
Hey all!
Just found this website and forum - wow! What a great resource. At any rate, I am planning a trip heading south from the Bay Area (San Francisco) to Buenos Aires. I am very flexible on a route and time schedule. I am 36yo, male, and ride a KLR650. Ideally, I would like to leave sometime in mid-to-late July. Please send me an email if you would like to join for some or all of the journey. Take care, Camus |
Hey,
We are a group of people leaving from Alaska and heading south in June. I live in SF. May be we can grab a beer and chat about prep and trip before I leave (Sunday...). Good luck. Anne. |
Anne,
I shot you an email but haven't heard back. Let me know if you would like to grab a beer at the Geist or some other place! :-) Cheers, Camus [This message has been edited by Camus (edited 25 May 2005).] |
Hi guys,
If my bike holds together I'll be in San Francisco end of June, early July. It would be great to share a beer (or several).. happy travels. Greg |
Greg,
Feel free to send me an email - don't know for sure if I'll be around but am always happy to drink beer for any reason :-) If you need to do any wrenching on your bike, you are also welcome to my garage and tools. Camus |
Camus,
I'll be heading South from LA with two other bikes on July 1st., aiming at Ushaia for Christmas. Feel free to email from time to time, but we hate drinking beer. (not) grant |
Hi
I am in Modesto 90 miles East of you. I am planning on heading down into Mexico at the beginning of July. I plan on Baja, Copper Canyon and Sierra Madre (Spine of the Devil). I could ride with you that far possibly. I will be on a R1150GS hasta la vista, Dave Quote:

Hi BigRed...I am planning on heading south July1 as well. I am turning around after Guadalajara though, and heading up into the Sierra Madre. Are you planning on going through Baja on the way down and taking the ferry, or are you going down the mainland?
I plan on doing Baja either on the way south, or on the way back North. Ride Safe, Dave Quote:

Dave,
We'll be cruising around somewhere between LA & San Diego for a few days, and crossing into Baja on the 1st., planning on a few drinks at Hussong's Cantina in Ensenada the first night. After that, we'll be heading for the mainland ferry at Santa Rosalia. We're also on 1150 GS's. Maybe seeya over a margarita? Grant |
I used to live in San Diego. Are you going to be camping or hotelling in Ensenada? Last time we were through we were camping in a VW bus and stayed at an RV campground in Ensenada. There is a grocery store chain called Gigante in Ensenada that is a good place to stock up on food for the run down Baja.
I will keep in touch here to see details when we both are closer to leaving. I will be practicing my Spanish skills while in Mexico. I teach bilingual science classes, but my grammer in Spanish is poor. It improves every time I am in Mexico. Hasta la vista, dave Quote:

Dave,
we'll be hotelling it, don't have any bookings but Hussongs is a definite. I lived in North County (Cardiff/Encinitas) for awhile myself, actually! Grant |
I was in Ocean Beach and then up on El Cajon Boulevard. I have been by Hussongs. Were were right in front of Hussongs once when a transformer blew out putting all of Ensenada into pitch black darkness. Drunk Americans were wandering all around in the dark.

I'm headed from Orange County to Deadhorse early July, then spinning around and heading South finally coming through Glacier NP in Montana, Idaho, Utah and AZ down through Baja, Mexico, Central and South America. Probably July & August in US and Canada crossing border late August early Sept... might hook up somewhere!

Hi all,
I'm planning a trip to South America too. Schedule is flexible, but would prefer end of july. Leaving from the midwest. I'm a native spanish speaker, if that could be of any help in the borders!. [This message has been edited by The Last Lion (edited 14 June 2005).] |
How are the plans coming for your trip. I am still aimed at a July 1 start for my trip through Mexico. I am waiting for my passport to arrive, and getting my gear in order.
See you in Baja, Dave Quote:
