if you look for a cheap hostel in Santiago, try Hostal Tales at Concha y Tores 41. Follow the Alamada (O'Higgins) West, take right on Av. Brazil, first possibility left, another left, another left (heading to Brazil) and a right....i think. Its a bit hidden. Cheapest in town, lovely little baroque area. with a garage to put 1 bike in for free.
5k a night in a dorm.
