Santiago to Ushuaia on the Carretera Austral October 2024
 

Looking for others to join me from Santiago, Chile to Puerto Montt in mid October, followed by the Carretera Austral to Chile Chico and then Ruta 40 to Rio Gallegos and finally to Ushuaia. I will happily alter the route, but I must arrive by 30 October in order to get a ship to Antarctica.

If you’re going to Chile Chico does that mean you’re not going down to Villa O’Higgins?
If so I urge you to go to the bottom of the Caraterra Astral then back up to Chile Chico - for us it was, by far, the best section and doesn’t add that much time on.

Bit late for that particular suggestion, since barring catastrophe the OP should now be back from their Antarctic trip.
