Silk and Siberia
 

Starting May 2020 I will be heading east on 2 wheels out of the UK, following this approximate route:

• Belgium, Northern Germany, Poland, Oswiecim
• Ukraine, Kviv, Chernobyl
• Russia, Volgograd
• Trans Siberian Highway to Lake Baikal
• Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar and the Altai
• Briefly back up into Russia then Kazakhstan, Semey, Charyn, Almaty
• Kyrgyzstan, Issyk-Kul, Tash Rabat, Osh
• Wakhan, Pamir Highway, Dushanbe
• The Silk Road cities of Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, and the Aral Sea
• Beyneu, Aktau and the Caspian Sea Ferry to Baku
• Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, Cappadocia
• Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia/Sarajevo
• Croatia, Slovenia, Austria and homewards

That's not exhaustive and I'll be stopping plenty along the way to smell the flowers and see the sights. Daily average 150-200 kms including rest, tourist and maintenance stops. Total mileage around 15,000 - time out around 5 months.

I'm no spring chicken but no dinosaur either, mildly left of centre, internationalist in perspective, speak English, French, German and a bit of Russian. Self contained and can handle a spanner. Lousy at cooking, not bad at drinking.
