Going wandering from Cape town up east, starting in November
It's all set, I'm leaving the Netherlands on the 1'st of november 2007 to fly after my shipped bike to Cape town.
My general route will be: South africa Namibia Zambia Tanzania Mount Kilimanjaro! Heck, i want to climb it! Kenya Ethiopia Sudan Ethiopia Djibouty Yemen Oman U.A.E And then get a job there or something, planning stops there. I'l be driving a KTM 950 Adventure and plan to drive plenty of track's and bit's of offroad. I guess i'l need about half a year to drive to Dubai but have no time constrain'ts :) Love that!! Would be nice to hear about other's who plan to do the same route or bit's of it around that time, maybe even catch up somewhere. Also, i would realy like to hear about places to go and must see's on this route, of course i dont want to hear why did you skip that place when i'm back :cool4: |

Please give me a call when you get to UAE (+971 (0)50 550 7966). hey, i might even fire up my 950 and join you for a few of the legs. please stay in touch. Thanks, David |
I will, i guess i'd like to get a beer by then :)
It will hopefully be around a year from now before I arrive overthere. |
The cheapest plain ticket i could get leave's on 11-11-07 so i bought that one, i'l be in Cape Town (after 23 and a half hours of plaining!!) on the 12'th 9am so i got the entire day to pick up and rebuild my bike.
Who know's a nice and cheap place to stay for a day or 2 in Cape town? After that it's driving to Namib in a couple of day's and spend a while in Namib, that's probably the most divers and butifull country on the list :) so i got to take it easy there! Anyone who could make some recommendations on where to go, please do! i got so much bike preparing and working (mony.. budget is already chewed up by the ticket and freight!!) to do that i'm afraid i cant read up a lot on the country's i'l visit. I'm planning on buying the Loneley planet for South Africa and Eastern Africa to read in to it while i'm down the road, are there the best books to get or is there one better for this purpose? Thnx all for all the great info on this site!!!! :thumbup1: |
I'm in Tanzania, Mbeya right now. Is there anyone around Tz who would like to meet somewhere?
Met lot's of great people on the road, but supprisingly only 2 bike-drivers :) |
Kenia
Steven,
watching news? There seems to be a major upheaval in Kenia due to manipulated elections. So Nairobi might not be the safest place to visit right now. Take care and good luck! Hans |
