South America Early 2018
Hi all,
I'm planning my first ever motorcycle trip around South America and would love to meet up/ride with fellow adventurers along the way. My trip will start with learning Spanish for 4 weeks in Medellin before flying down to Rio for the Carnival! I have Brazilian friends and they say this is a MUST!! After that plans are pretty open... currently toying with idea of buying a nice light Honda 125 out there or taking one from UK (quotes are coming in a bit steep though at £1,000+). Once I have a bike the idea is to make my way down to Ushuaia (maybe through Argentina), then back up through Chile (hop over to Easter Island), Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador (inc. Galapagos), Columbia... then who knows where! Would be looking to keep costs low, camping or staying at hostels most of the way, going at a fairly relaxed pace, enjoying nature and trekking at points eg. Torres del Paine, Machu Picchu. I'm open to any ideas/tips/advice for my travels and would be happy to share the adventure with anyone who might be out there at the same time (Jan 2018 - April/May 2018). Looking forward to the road ahead, Mel |

Far easier and cheaper to purchase a bike here than import. We bought 2 Honda Tornado 250s and love them. A 125 may be a little underpowered with luggage - especially on the highways with a headwind. If I can help you in any way, I'm happy to. Just private message me. Bruce Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk |
Hi Bruce,
Thanks a lot for letting me know! Would love to hear more about your trip so far. I tried private messaging you but got a note saying I have to make 3 posts first - hopefully this reply will do the trick and I'll try again in a sec! Mel |

I'm departing Uruguay at the start of April providing all goes to plan, heading in to Brazil then over to the west coast to do some surfing, then north towards Canada, Thanks Chris |

Thanks for letting me know your plans. I'm not sure exactly where I'll be but should be somewhere along the North-West of the continent in May. Let me know when you're heading to the West coast and we can see if our paths cross! Thanks, Mel |
