South America ride Nov 2007
Motorbike Adventure trip of a lifetime to South and Central America needs at least two more participatants.
:helpsmilie: I am planning a three-month trip from Buenos Aeries to Houston to start and finish sometime between October 2007 and March 2008 (missing out Colombia). I presently ride a BMW GS1200 Adventure but plan to ride a Honda Africa Twin (just rebuilt) on the journey (or a similar journey), but need to find a couple of like minded bikers, who can either join the trip for at least a month each or two people who may like to come along for the whole trip. I am interested in the Inca and Maya cultures and want also to visit some remote places. A great majority of the trip may be rough and ready, camping and generally avoiding large cities. Places and countries to visit may include: Argentina, Patagonia, Tierra del Feugo, huge extending glaciers, Chile, Bolivia, Uruguay, Paraguay, the high Andes, Lake Titicaca, Machu Picchu, the highest desert in the world, the Nazareth lines, Inca and Maya temples, Torres del Paine NP, Iguacu falls, Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Texas etc. If you are easy going, can give and take and would be interested in coming along then please contact me. You must ride your own bike (over 600cc) or hire one and be prepared to be part of a small team who will make up their own plans and not stick to any regimented schedule. In an ideal world one of us would be a bike mechanic, one fluent or get by in Spanish and one a good first aider but the most important point will be an enthusiasm to travel, see far away people and places, be affable and live through the trip. The dates will need to be confirmed by 1st June 2007. Any takers?! roly |

My wife and I leave for SA on our 1150GSA on Oct. 23 from Lima. We are fluying our bike to Lima from Californis and heading south. Plan on Cusco and then through Boliva, Salar de Uyuni and into San Pedro de Atacama. From there over Pasa de Jama into Salta and south on hiway 40. After we hit Mendosa, San Carlos de Bariloche and BOlsen, then over the pass into Chile to ride the Austral Road in Chile. Then back into Argentina with a stop in El Cheltain and El Calafate. South from there through Torres del Paine and Punta Areanas and finally Tierra del Fuego. We plan on being in ushuaia around Dec. 20 or so. Let me know if you think we will cross paths.
