South America to Seattle (right now)
Hello travelers,
I'm Elisa, an American girl looking for travel buddies through Central America. I'm currently in Bolivia, but will be on my own once in Quito, at the end of May (If you don't yet have a bike, I'll be selling the 2nd bike I own which various friends are using while they visit me, for $1,300usd in Quito-very new. Possibly my Honda CGL for $700). I'll head for Colombia and then get a boat across to Panama and head towards the States. Would welcome company through Central America. Currently on a strong little 125cc Honda CGL, but may get a bigger bike once in Panama. Would like to be back in Seattle by August or early September. Traveling on a budget, but otherwise flexible and easy going. And I speak fluent Spanish if that helps :) TravelBugBlues |
hi I am going the opposite direction, from Vancouver to Buenos Aires, same trajectory as you, maybe you can tell me half way there how it is. I am leaving Vancouver July 10.

Hi Elisa will be a little in front to of you but South America is all about delays so keep in touch I am hoping to hit panama in mid May

I'm hoping to be in Panama sometime in late June, early July, possibly on a bigger bike. We'll see what happens!

Carl, how are you getting from Colombia to Panama? Still trying to find an economical way of doing it...
Where are you heading after that? Thanks! Quote:

Hi Skyrider,
I should be in Cartagena in just a few days (in Medellin now). Let me know if you continue your trip northwards through Central America though! |
I am meeting up with travel bug and heading north next week anyone around willing to put up with us slow folk on 125s are welcome. Even for a day
From Costa Rica Edit travel bug will be further south I can't get over the border yet |
If you happen to pass thru Guadalajara while traveling in Mexico, let me know, send me a P.M. a few days in advance, I live a hectic life but I'll be as helpful as I can, lunch or dinner will be on me and if you need local advice or help of any kind, nothing beats the input from a local. I've been a traveler myself (not on a motorbike…Not yet) and I'll be delighted to help. Ride safe :thumbup1:

I'm leaving on Sept. 1 on my KLR 650 from Vancouver also ending up in Buenos Aires hopefully before the end of the year. (promised my wife I'd be home for Xmas.) Would like to get together for coffee or something before you leave to discuss your route etc. PM me if you're interested. David

Heading north
Luis, sounds great!! If I head through there, I'll let you know. Meanwhile, can you suggest some good (safe) routes north from Guatemala? Or better, any places I should just avoid altogether?
David, I'd be very happy to meet up with you. I should be home late August, early September, and may head up to Williams Lake via Vancouver shortly after. Otherwise, the coffee in Seattle is pretty good :) |
In Nicaragua, right now
I'm now in Nicaragua. Was too slow hanging out in Colombia to meet up with Vertical C, who's now in Guatemala. In Granada, heading for Honduras and El Salvador if anyone is around! Will be in Mexico in a few weeks, then northwards through maybe Baja California, or into Texas, New Mexico, over to California and up to Washington State.
