You could catch some of the Dakar
If you are in Santiago on the 6th you will be able to follow some of the Dakar either on your way south if you are quick, or by heading north. A few of us will be trying to follow the race from start to finish. Means some big days in the saddle though.
PM me when you get here and we can catch up for a beer / coffee. |
Another Dakar spectator
I'll be arriving in Santiago on Nov 25th and my bike (in Valparaiso) on Dec 8th. I too am hoping to watch the Dakar in as many places as possible before heading for Ushuia. I'd appreciate any info anyone cares to share.

Hi Adam,
I'm Meeting Chris in Santiago on the 6th of JAN but I'm getting my bike in mid DEC in BA, Argentina and then I'll be heading to Chile. Maybe we can meet some where in the area. Contact me on morangad@gmail.com Cheers, Moran. |
me too Dakar, Santiago to TDF
:mchappy:I will be arriving on the 31st of Dec. Moto to be there the 30th if all goes as planned. hope to see some of the Dakar race then head south. Would be good to run with some others for awhile till I figure out what I am doing atleast. Does anyone know where we could catch the Dakar race coming up from the South on day 3,4 & 5. May be a little optimistic to think I could get bike out of port (San Antonio) and be on the road that quick, but that was what I was aiming for.

OK let me see if I can attach a garmin route to this posting
I am looking at watching the start in BA then flying across to Santiago, picking up my bike on the 4th and heading south.
Santiago south on Route 5 (just to make it a loop) and across to Neuquen. Reality check to see if it is possible to get to Jacobacci (if reasonable striking distance) or part way there to catch a special stage. Neuquen - San Rafael San Rafael - Mendoza Mendoza - Valparaiso Valparaiso - La Serena La Serena - Copiapo Copiapo - Fiambala Fiambala - Santiago If someone wants the .GPX file send me a PM with your email address. Now does anyone have access to a better route map showing where the special stages are going to be? |
