Guide may have to be in a car/truck
"Rumor" out of those close to the early "rule makers" and agency issuing permits is that the "guide" provided by the tourist agency leading the group must be in a car (maybe pick-up truck), not on a motorcycle.
Like all new government programs, things may be fluid for a while as regulators clarify their rules. "Guide in a car/truck" reminds me of the 'rtw traveler who "had to do China," booked a tour and ended up following a large transit truck (read that "truck full of dust/dirt/trash") inhaling dust and trash for most of his trip while the guide rode up front in the cab. Motorcycle client said he seldom saw third gear, mostly second and first.:oops2: |
Hi,
Looks a great route, but do you legally need a guide for Thailand or is it just personal choice? |
You just need a guide for china. Importing bikes into Thailand became more difficult but its also still possible (but big waste of money) http://reisemotorrad.eu/zaehler.php?...d_einreise.pdf
Thailand, Laos and Cambodia are one of the cheapest countrys to travel in. For a hotel you pay around 5 Dollars per night, Motorbikes can be rent for just 5 Dollars per day as well and meals start from just 1 Dollar per Portion. Wild camping und beautifull countryside is free http://schoene-motorradreisen.de/?re..._hong_son_loop |
Thanks ta-rider.
I have been to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand (not motorbike orientated though). I do want to go back, this time on a bike, or more likely because of getting there, fly and hire, to take in Laos as well. |
Cheap 5 Dollars per day bikes from Thailand cant be taken across boarders. Just take the bus and the slow boat and rent another bike in Laos and Cambodia for just 4 Dollars per day ;)
