Is there anyone going NORTH from Singapore in Mid December?

In order to convince 'sponsors' to help financially with my trip from Melbourne to Koh Phangan in Thailand, i need to convince them that the Journey from Singapore (after shipping from Darwin) will be safe and sound. The best way ive figured to do that is with a riding buddy, ANYONE, local or passing through like me.

heres a proposed route from Singas:

Google Maps

obviously with an undecided stop between 'D' and 'E'.

and from melb to darwin:

Just had a look at your map - good route

The North/South Highway in Malaysia isn't a great deal of fun - some very agressive driving and no police presence to keep a lid on things. Unless you're trying to cover miles quickly, I'd recommend going up the east coast instead. Much prettier. The road from JB to Mersing is fun; Mersing up to Kuala Terengganu is all lovely. Cherating (just north of Kuantan) is an extremely laid back beach resort, Kuantan is also nice. From Terangganu up north isn't great, and I didn't much like Kota Bahru at all.

If you find someone to ride with, Endau Rompin (national park, some of the oldest rain forest in the world) is supposed to be great fun to ride round, though I haven't made it there yet. See Endau Rompin Eco Adventure Ride (23-24 Jun 2007) pictures from motorcycles photos on webshots for some pics of a local bike group that went up there last year.

At Hat Yai, your route follows the inland road - don't know what it's like but the alternative is the coast road through Songkhla and north to Khlong Daen, which is rather gorgeous.

If you need anything in Sing, drop me a message - I'm based here.

Cheers
Geoff

You can't really call the southernmost Thai states bordering Malaysia, safe, as there are muslim terrorists there, that have killed 2000 people in the last 3 years, some with bombs and some at drive by shootings, both of which will hit indescriminately.

You could take a bus through those states.
