Eastern route departing UK Sept/Oct 07 via Middle East. Still deciding on Egypt-Sudan vs Saudi-Djibouti

JADE 14 Jun 2006 15:56

London to South Africa sept/oct 07!!!! sounds good. but i'm not big on planning so will have to take it as it comes. the plan at the moment is melbourne (australia) to london leaving melbourne jan 07 arriving in time for IOM TT week. via south east asia and india. if i make it to london in one piece, then down through africa west side then back up the east. i was in east africa last year nov/dec, weather was awesome. yeah it did rain and it was hot, but i got used to it, good balance. can't wait to get back there!

Dakar to Tombocktou Oct 07

Fellow riders of the world,

We will be shipping the Bikes, 3x Bmw's,to Dakar and counting to leave town
Eastbound,around Oct the 15th.
Crossing Senegal, Mali, all the way to Tmbkt, and return probably trough
Burkina and Guine-Conacry to end up back in Dakar.
We'll be riding mostly the off-beaten track, for that one of us as flown
choppers for the UN there in the past, and knows quite well the territory,
and we'll be visiting old friend's of his, mostly staying over in small villages and
tribes.
Would be very happy to meet anyone along the way for a couple of cold ones!
( heard there's no shortage in the area!),cause been riding in Marocco for more than once and never got to see a fellow biker ever!!!!

Happy to help ,

In the wind soon,

MadDogo.

Departing Nov 2007

Hi,

I'll be leaving in my Landie 110 with a friend on the start of an 18 month journey around the circumference of Africa (well as far as is possible) commencing in Morocco and working in an anti-cw direction back up towards Tunisia a year and a half later!

Website will be up an running soon, and I do hope to meet up with lots of others travellers en route, so lets all keep in touch over the next year!

Ben - can't wait to leave the UK!!

Departing Oct 2007

Hi all

Me and my Mrs will be heading down the West Route-likely to Senegal, certainly Mali and maybe Ghana or Niger in Oct 2007 in our Merc 917 4x4 truck. We are under no particular time constraints and have no particular plans 'cept we have to be back in the UK at the end of Jan 2008. Always welcome some company, a cold beer and a natter en-route and the truck makes a good meet-up point too.

Best wishes
Q

Hi to all, there are two of us in the planning stages of a trip here in somerset, we are looking to leave around Oct/Nov 07 as well. Starting in Africa, to New Zealand, Australia, South America, Canada and back to the Uk.
If any of you have experience or ideas or would like to meet for a beer and swap some ideas, we are blessed with a fantastic pub in which to conduct such a meeting. We are looking to travel on a couple of identical 1150 GS's of the 04 model, one concern is Egypt in particular as the paper trail sounds expensive and tiresome, so if anyone has experience of costs ect for this part of the trip any info would be greatly appreciated.
Regards

Steve

Great to hear from everybody!

Wow
I did't know so many people were going to be on-route next september! I am proably taking a KLR600 86 22'000m (Crazy? £600!!) but it all works and i know the one owner. I am in the channel Islands which makes meeting up, as few people has said about, abit tricky. But as the time gets closer it could be good to meet up with someone. I am going to leave in Setember. One month, maybe 6weeks in Europe then middle east-do they make bullet proff helmets?! I fancy endulging in Indiana Jones fantasies of Petra too. Then across to Egypt and to Sudan when if someone fancys traveling together for the sudan/N kenya area? Thats if we don't bump into each other in Europe! I will be 23 next september having just finnished a 4 years as a plumbing apprentice and can't wait to get back to Africa again. Is there anyone else in their 20's? planning for east coast 07
Regards George Guille

Chris!!!!!!!!

My friend Luke and I(Ben) are off to cape town at the same time. We were thinking another rider would be a good idea for various reasons. We are based in glastonbury so not too far from dorset.

If you fancy joining us give us a shout. Would be good to share routes, plans etc... and take it from there.

cheers,

Ben (stothard17)

Hey,

My better half and I are planning on driving (sorry) across the North and then down the East around the time you're all setting off. It's great to know there will be a few other folk around at least at the start and would be great to meet up at some point at least!

Ben: It sounds like we should be able to meet up with you at least twice as you'll be starting in the same place and going in the opposite direction :thumbup1: but for even longer :glare:

I think my email's in my profile if anyone wants to get in touch

Ollie

Simon
