Your trip

Hi Sasco,

Have seen your message: I was seriously considering a similar trip.
Now what dates for departure would you have in mind, considering visa and Carnet de Passage have to be organised for Iran?

I ride a R1200GS.

Kindly send me a PM should you wish to explore further.

Hi Sasco. I set off from Bucharest 31 March cross Turkey into Iran. We may meet up on the way somewhere.

Balkans, Turkey and Armenia

My plan, early May into Albania then across Greece to Turkey, black sea coast, down to Mt Ararat then into Armenia, might see you on route.
I do it different, motorhome for the boring straight bits with Cagiva Gran Canyon to play in the twisties.
Canyon.

I hope you weren't planning to cross into Armenia from Turkey directly. You might be in for a disappointment if that is the case.

Merhaba,

Shortly current information for this route:

You can enter Armenia, through İran or Georgia, all gates between Turkey and Armenia are closed since many years.

Carnet is a must for Iran, also official escort for the citizens of GB, CAN and USA...No insurance available for Georgia, nop for georgia visa.Gate visa and insurance available for Armenia for most citizens.

Best and most safe gates for Iran is Doğubeyazıt/Bazargan and Sarp for Georgia from Turkey.

Even its ceasefire period for the war in Syria and Russia moved most of his forces to homeland,işil started moving to Libya, Southeast Anatolia is still nogo area, entrances to all towns close to syria border are prohibited and being announced as military security areas 1 by 1.Nop for the rest of the country.Government is most careful and caring for tourism..Dont drive at nights in inner east anatolia.

Wish you all a nice and pleasant trip.

Best wishes...

Hello. I'm also doing this route by motorcycle. I am in Bulgaria now at Motocamp and will head to Istanbul this weekend. Then on Sunday I am free to start heading east. Would be great to meet up and ride with some others.
