UK-Istanbul in August
 

I'm heading to Istanbul in the last couple of days of July/early August... exact details to be confirmed. Last time I did this I went through Italy and Greece. This time I fancy going overland all the way (via Croatia).

Anyone en route?

I'm planning to leave around the same time but going the Italy Greece route. By mid August I'll have done what I'm going to Turkey to do and will be deciding whether to ride around there a bit more or come back the Croatian way or retrace. When are you thinking of returning to London and which way?

... so far are as follows:

Must be in UK on 29th July (leeds) cos I'm working, and on the 26th August coz I've got a family gathering to go to. No crossing booked yet, (though always prefer the chunnel). Could possibly do Italy/Greece there and different journey back... just keen on doing the Overland route as I've not done this before...

In all, I would like to spend say no more than 12 days travelling, and around 15 days in Istanbul

Maybe we should get together to discuss/plan?

6 days riding each way is to way too fast for me!! I'm intending to eat drink and be merry and take the slow road.

Would definitely suggest slowing up at some point and going through Bosnia. If you can't do Croatia and Bosnia - do Bosnia and spend a couple of days in Sarajevo. Absolutely fantastic! (I can recommend central B&B if you're interested.)

I'll second that! If you do take this advice, visit Mostar as well, a real gem of a town and the road from Sarajevo to Mostar is also a highlight. :thumbup1:
