UK to Mongolia, departing June 2017
Hi, Is anyone interested in linking up for a ride from the UK to Mongolia leaving around June ? I can be flexible on dates and route.
|
I'm game. Would like to be progressing through Russia starting 1 June, though. Thoughts?
|
Hi:thumbup1:
I am planning a similar adventure indeed I gonna head over Magadan after Mongolia. Would be nice to link up for the Russian part and explore also some remote areas. I gonna ride from Switzerland:scooter: Are you shipping your bike back from Mongolia? Cheers Ken |
Hi Transtrain - there's not much detail to go on here.
What's your expected timescale - riding hard all day or loads of stops to look at stuff? Time limited worker drone or lucky enough to be retired? Any idea of your proposed route? What bike are you running - CG125 or GSA1200? Big budget for hotels & restaurants or smaller budget with lots of camping? Riding back home or shipping back home? Your age & experience - first trip abroad or seasoned traveller? |
Im interested in a trip like this, or to SE Asia.
Will keep an eye on this thread for more details. |
I am also heading to Ulaanbaatar this year. I'm leaving at the end of May and taking a fairly off road route via Central Asia (Pamir).
Do you have a route planned? |

Outline plan is to meet with calltoserve in Moscow around 7th of June, allowing about 6 weeks, mostly camping, with occasional hotel/B&B. Preference is mainly dirt roads, I will be on klx 250, calltoserve on BMW1200GS. Calltoserve airfreighting on to USA/Canada, I may ride back from Mongolia or continue to Vladivostock if there is someone to ride back with me. Traveled all of Europe extensively by truck, not been further than Venice by bike. Im 51 years old, been riding 36 years and will be quiting my job to make this trip. Any more questions, please feel free to ask |
Hi Hammertime,
Have an outline plan, not going to try to plan every last detail, want to be able to take it as it comes. Does our plan interest you ? |
Am currently getting time off authorised for a 3 month ride from May or June. After Mongolia are you heading back to UK? I had planned to see a friend in Bulgaria, before or after an excursion of which Bulgaria would be far enough. In live in the south UK, so a start off is possible.
What bike are you using? |
Heading over to Europe from Canada with plans of heading east with eventual destination being Magadan. I will be on an 650 XChallenge and my wife on a XT250. Retired so no time limitations. Plan on as much off road as possible.

Hi captainktm,
Your plans are very similar to mine, would you be interested in joining our group ? Details are still to be decided but it looks like we have 4 people interested at this stage |
Hi Ang,
Have you decided on a route through Europe ? Where and when do you expect to start ? Are you interested in joining our group ? |
Hi Turby,
Yes, will be starting and finishing in south of UK which should suit you. Via Bulgaria is not a problem |

I aim to leave here (Bulgaria) mid June 2017 and then ride east via everything and anything through central Turkey, should take a couple of weeks depending on how good the fly fishing is. I will cross into Georgia and spend anther couple of weeks or so there checking out mainly the mountains. You notice I have not mentioned towns or cities? They will be avoided at all cost. From the cross the boarder by the quietest route possible into Russia. A day or at most 2 days up to the Kazakhstan boarder, then crack on east trying to stay more or less on a compass bearing due east. The back in to Russia for a quick sprint to the Mongolian boarder. I will spend a couple of weeks here wandering around and then reverse the route, this time keeping farther south in Kazak, and north in Georgia and Turkey. |

Trip from Germany to Mongolia June 2017
Hi, me and my girlfriend are planning a trip from Germany through Bulgaria, Turkey, the Stan, and Mongolia from June to August 2018. We do not have more details yet. We want to travel as more as possible off-road. The bikes are KTM 640 Adventure and Husqvarna TE 610. It will be nice to travel together if our ways cross somewhere.
Greeting, Barni |
