UK ~ Scotland to Romania – Black Sea. etd July ’15
UK ~ Scotland to Romania – Black Sea. etd July ’15 time . Travel Mate(s).
Hey Folks, we are a Scots / Romanian Couple in our ‘60’s on a Yam FJR1300 so mostly blacktop all the way. Our route is via Cahors & stay with old Mate. Then down to Antibes / Nice / Monaco to check out the Yachtie scene & more old Buddie’s. On to Venice via Italian Lakes ~ maybe the Amalphie Coast (more Yachts) maybe down Croatia coast to Sarajevo region. On ‘thru Hungary to her Town in Romania & the Black Sea (Yep more Yachties). Looking to leave UK Mid July ‘15 after doing the Spa & Mallory Classic Bike events. We aim to stick on smaller Roads & Villages taking about 3 - 4 weeks out. The idea is to Enjoy ~ not endure.. Should be a doddle. :D Rough plan for the return trip is to strike further North & be back in UK in time to get our Yacht into the French Canals. We are non-smokers – ex-Forces SoH - speak most Languages en-route – I’m a decent Mechanic – been on Bikes since Pontiuos was a Pilot - plenty of Euro travel experience - & obviously Sailors. Anyone who would like to do the whole or part Voyage, or just meet up someplace. Any advice on “Must See or Do” en-route most appreciated. Erm, Heavy Smokers with no SoH really would not work !!! :ban: |
I travelled through Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia, Slovenia, Italy, France, Monaco on my way back from Central Asia this year.
Some highlights that you may wish to consider for your trip are: the Meteora monasteries in Greece; Dobrota (on Lake Kotor) in Montenegro; Plitvice Lakes in Croatia and the Transfagarasan Highway in Romania. There are reviews and photos of these locations (and others) on my trip blog that you can find at www.bermudarover.com - look at the entries for July and August 2014. Hope this helps :cool4: |
Thanks Appreciated
Hey 'Rover' Many Thanks for all that ~ Yes some of those are on our List & will be looking into some others 'tho we are still a bit flexible on the route, particularly east of Italy... Cheers Andy :scooter:

Hi Andy,
Looking at your post and your initial plans on a tour, I am also gathering thoughts on taking considerable time and doing some touring next year (semi Retired) and have Romania/Black sea on the old bucket list as well as a few more of course, so maybe interested in joining you at some point depending on timings etc, just thought I would say hello and see what happens. Will keep in touch with this post and see what transcribed. Regards Peter (Scots living in Yorks) . |
Hi Andy/Pete
I am keen on this area as well and being retired I don,t have many time restraints, but I fancy going May time to take advantage of the cooler temps tried for Turkey this year in August but it was so hot that we stayed in Bulgaria as stories of 40+ in Turkey did,nt appeal. |
Schedule
