UK to Australia 2003
Hi,
I'm hoping to ride overland ,UK to Australia, via what seems to be the standard route. Europe, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal. Fly to Bangkok, then down through Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and ship to Australia. Would like to arrive in Oz early October 2003, so would probably leave UK Feb/March 2003. Bit scary just me and my XT, so anybody fancy, letting me tag on with them, or joining me. I've a lot of experience on bikes and have travelled a bit in Asia but never put the two together. |

Hi, I am currently touring Australia on my GT550 that i bought here. It's fantastic and i would love to do the overland trip.
I am planning on coming back to oz by october next year for the rugby world cup. I will be home (england) by the end of october and will be saving straight away for the next trip! It would be great if you want to exchange ideas. What bike are you planning on doing it on? How much do you reckon it'll cost? look forward to hearing from you! nicky. |
Going from England to Australia via North Africa June 2003. Need to arrive in Oz early December if interested.

We're riding a TDM850 2 up from the UK to NZ leaving around March next year. haven't really been planning on travelling with others but may be a good idea through Iran, Pakistan?
Not in any hurry to get to NZ though so timing might not coincide...or maybe it will.. |
Hi all
This is great, thanks for all the replys. I really wasn't keen on the Iran/Pakistan part of my trip alone.I'll E mail replies direct if thats okay so as not to lengthen the thread too much. Happy travels Paul |
Hi, we leave April/May 2003 on same route. We are taking it slow, intending to take 2 years to get to Oz and another year or so there. Hope to see you on the road.

If your not too much in a hurry you might want to stay over the weekend on your trip here - it's about an hour east from cologne - if you just want to stay overnight that's alright, too.
Just drop me a mail... |
Do you anticipate making your landfall in Darwin? - and if so where to in OZ are you intending to finish?
|
Hi Paul, sounds like a great trip I quite fancy Nepal and New Zealand. Id like to be in NZ for the same time as year as you plan for Oz. Let me know if your interested!!

The fact I have had to post so few Questions, shows how much information is already on here.
Grant, Susan and every body, thank you. My dream trip is now a reality. I would still very much like to meet up with others en-route, so if you are doing similar then please keep in touch. Can I be a traveller now and not a newbie |
