Heading China way
Hi folks! Starting to let ideas change to plans for next year. Would like to head over to China and tour there before heading on into the rest of Asia. Last trip was Americas (http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/tstories/caiandles/), 16,000 miles ending at Panama. Done that one alone, company might be nice to start the next one:thumbup1:.

Hi Guys,
I am in the early early planning stages of a trip to Oz overland starting April next year. At the moment its going to be Europe - Turkey - Iran - Pakistan - India then off to Thailand etc. I want to take about a year and scuba dive along the way. I am on a BMW GS 1200 Adventure. Its my first long trip and some company would be great especially Pakistan as that worries me a bit. andy at greatdives dot co dot uk is my email address |

Seems a few interested, any keen on transiting China?.
Hi a see there are a few people having their own go at this journey. while I doubt I would have the same time scale and or routing plans as many others...I was wondering if there might be a few people keen on joining up to transit China...Therebye sharing guide costs and hassles. I would like to end up in Laos in late july early August..so guess that means entering China early July..20 days to transit China...Entry point is flexible but Khazak/Mongolia seems most suitable. In a perfect world a couple of bikes and a 4x4...anyone interested?????

UK-Oz 2010
Hi guys,
we're (me and wife to be - this'll be our honeymoon!....) also planning on heading off on a couple of XT's to Oz in the spring - probably late April, and heading towards Turkey - Iran - The Stans - China - Pakistan - India & Nepal before shipping onto SE Asia. Not too sure of our timescales yet as want to allow ourselves margins for all unplanned things we might come across but am thinking we might be looking to cross the small bit of China (Kashgar) to get to the Karakoram Highway some time perhaps around the end of June - beginning of July. Given the cost of the China crossing, just thought I'd put the word out to see who else might be around to share the cost of guides etc... |
Sharing China Guides
Hi, I think this deserves a thread on its own...since UK OZ is a bit too general. I will start a new thread on the subject sharing China guides...see what interest it pulls in.

UK to OZ 2010
We're just now entering the paperwork jungle and the more serious planning stages. We'll be 4x4 based with off road caravan so will be extremely slow (l'escargot). Scheduled leave date beginning April 2010 - finish work end Feb and have just started putting our lives on e-Bay. Heading north first (Scandinavia, Russia & into Eastern Europe) before heading down.
We may well not continue with caravan after the European leg - not sure yet. China definately on our radar but we don't have a date yet. Just now re-looking more seriously at route plan, likely duration, visas, carnet etc. We want as much flex as poss especially with the kids but will look to see what our timetable says i.e. when likely we hit Pakistana and China borders and where from and what not, and keep posted in case useful to anyone. We're St Neots, Cambs based if anyone wants to catch us before we go(sorry - we don't know anything about bikes!!!!!!!!!! but we can share knowledge of 'how to' drink a beer or two!!!). P.S. Congrats Bobduro - great honeymoon plan! |
Good idea Jimmy

London to Malaysia
Hi all.
I'm in the initial (very initial) stages of planning a journey from London to KL sometime next year. My girlfriend's parents live there now so she is flying over and I'm biking :scooter:, trying to get a machine at the moment (thinking of a BM 650gs. I'm 5'9" and 11st) We've had a lot of ideas for what we want to do with the rest of our lives and now it's been decided that we are going to open a restaurant in my native Scotland but before we settle down for a long time of hard graft I want to do this trip and try to raise some money for charity. My dad does a lot for sick kids in my hometown and I want to do the same. Not sure how I'm going to go about it but I'm going to try the media, get sponsors, offer advertising etc. HU is certainly a fantastic place for info. It would be good to travel with some folk across places like the Stans/Iran/Pakistan due to what I've been reading about bandits and the like but I don't have a timescale/schedule yet so it's all open and dependant on budget (is £5k realistic to get to KL...meaning everything apart from bike. Docs, visas etc?) thanks, and safe riding! ----------------------------------- Like food? sure you do - Keep up to date with Dinner at ours |
