uk to portugal, start of april
 

just lost my job so decided to pack up and go traveling europe. i was going to travel anyway, but not this early, so i want to get myself somewhere warm.
looks like i'll be heading from cumbria (english/scottish border) down to southish. get on a ferry to bilbao and work my way down to portugal. keeping things cheap i'll be camping and couch surfing.
any one wants to join in or give me a couch/back garden to stay in get in touch.

If you take the overnight ferry from Portsmouth to le havre that will save you an awful lot of money (use Aferry) Enough to pay for the Peage as well as a few days fuel and food. On to my place which is half way to Spain, an easy days riding in both cases. from here to spain is non peage and good roads. You can stop overnight here and both you and your bike can be accommodated indoors. Another easy days riding will get you to Portugal.

that actually sounds like a good way to start my trip. i'll think on it and get back to you. bilbao was my dads idea cos were worried that france will be cold. but if i'm indoors it wont be so bad. as long as i'm not cold i'm in no rush. might see some of france on the way down.
