Do you have any more route details - from what I've read SW Ukraine isn't recommended at the moment?
Also when would you be looking at doing this trip. I'm very interested in venturing into the Ukraine/Russia but don't currently have the confidence to do it alone. |

hi wouldn't be touching Ukraine, rough route would be. uk-rotterdam-poland-lithuania-latvia-hubb Russia-Moscow-Volgograd-sochi,then ferry to Trabzon-Istanbul,then west to home. possibly mid june 2018. |
Hi Rachel, I'd like to do this trip as well. I dont really have a plan at the moment other than I may as well do it sooner rather than later..lol.. I've been trying to get my other half to come with me but he's not interested :( , I'm a bit wary of going on my own as well to be honest...What sort of timescale were you looking at and when did you plan on going?
|
So something like THIS?
To be honest I think that would be a bit too much Eastern Europe for me for a first trip. I'll have a think about maybe going into Russia and then coming back out though. Do you have any information about visas required for Lithuania, Latvia and Russia - when applications would have to be in, which of the three countries do need them (I'm thinking probably all of them) and anything else I haven't immediately thought of? |
Quote:
yes map roughly about right.no visa for Lithuania and Latvia[eec].plenty of info on site re Russian visa. |
yes, sounds about right for me too, I did want to go into Ukraine though, but I'm pretty flexible. How long do you reckon this would take, from leaving UK to getting back, about 4 weeks (ish) ? I'm flexible on timescale too as I work for myself!

yes about 4 weeks hoping to leave mid june. |
Hi guys,
Here is better route - https://goo.gl/maps/fPCD7wxZjPt. If you will come to Russia visiting Saint-Petersburg will make more sense, than Volgograd. And leaving through Georgia and Old Military Road is best, not by ferry from Sochi (not sure if there is ferry at all). If you need any help with Russian part of the trip - ask |

hi alex thanks for the information. |
Hi,
I'm planning almost identical trip starting first half of June (but I can be flexible). I was thinking about goint through Belarus or Ukraine instead of Baltics and through Wolgograd instead of Rostov. I speak basic Russian and can read cyrillic. Are you planning to visit Armenia as well? Konrad |

Hi,
I was thinking about going through Belarus and Russia as Baltics would be over 800 miles extra but it would not be a problem to adjust my plans. When exactly are you planning to start from UK? Konrad |

the hub Russia is 21-24 june,so about 8-10 days before that.a couple of other people have shown an interest so wont be able to give a definite date till nearer the time. jim |
OK. I'm not attending Hub Russia so I don't need to travel up north. Maybe we'll meet somewhere on the way to Georgia or Turkey. Let's stay in touch.
