UK to Turkey and perhaps beyond
 

Hi,

Returning member here.... I am Australian male 57 years young. Working in Iraq/Kurdistan at the moment but my KTM 990 adventure is languishing in London having been shipped there from Australia some months ago.

I will finish up working here soon, in a couple of weeks and am looking to do some riding once I reconnect with my bike in London. Male and/or female travelling partner(s) sought. Your gender does not bother me but must have own bike.

Not really fussed with where, but I would like to avoid congested cities and motorways if possible. Also avoiding expensive hotels too as far as is possible.

I carry a cheap K-Mart tent......


Any takers?

nope not for me i'm afraid but welcome to the forum.. My OH is in turkey riding round the med and is having a great time. I rode UK to Nepal via turkey in 2012, and did some good trails in and around Cappadocia.

Just a point, its not really good on the web security front to use your DOB in your username...

I am in swiss at the moment on my way via Itali, Slovenië, croatia etc to albanie, maybe beond ;) are you able to join up at this point are havent you left the buildin?
I’m driving an 1150gs and am looking for the same kind of trip, nothing fancy, realy love offroad and can get prettig far as long as its not to extreme (mx kind of stuff), sleep in a tent, camp wild when I can and noooooo hotels. Let me know! If nothing charges, I have till about the end of september.

Sorry, i didn’t read that to good, “finishing up in a couple of weeks”. You haven’t left the buildin! Or have you?

Hi, I might be interested in doing this. I've been looking at a route down through the Dolomites, then Croatia, Albania, Greece, and then through Turkey, probably as far as Cappadocia. I've just come back from 3 wks in northern Spain and the Pyrenees so I'm still recovering from that but probably up for another sortie at the beginning of August. I don't do hotels either, unless it's absolutely necessary. I was thinking of doing a trip of about 6 wks duration. I live in Sussex by the way. PM me if you're interested.

Hi everyone, have you left the UK yet? I'm just putting the finishing touches on an old KLR650 and looking to do a smaller trip like this in the very near future to give it a good rundown and see what breaks before heading out on a longer trip at the end of the year.

I'm still in the UK but leaving soon. re your KLR, this isn't a small trip so you might want to see if it breaks down nearer home first. The route is probably around 8,000 miles all in. See rough route map here:

Hi Vstromrider, I may have made the bike sound worse than it is. I'm not particularly worried about it breaking down as such, I've stuck nearly 5000 miles on it in stages whilst doing the rebuild with no major problems, it's more to make sure I'm happy with it all in it's current form, and see if anything comes loose or I need to change anything before taking it across Russia and down through America. I'm heading over to France next week when the last bits have arrived and will probably carry on from there to the Balkans. Maybe catch up with you guys on the road somewhere? :)
