UK to Turkey and back late June for 6 weeks

Hi, this is in the very early stages of planning but basically I'm going from UK, fairly straight route to Turkey, ride a lot of both the North & South costs, visit Cyprus for a few days ( I have friends there) and then home.

All by the most scenic route possible, no off roading unless it's by accident!!

This is the loose route-

Staying in cheapish hotels, perhaps some youth hostels.

Apart from that I'm flexible, anyone else planning anything similar, if so perhaps we can arrange to hook up (In the English sense!!)?

JC

EDIT: This will be a 6 week (Ish) trip, not six weeks in Turkey!

I'll be travelling the same route but in the opposite direction. Starting from Austria at the beginning of June my plan is to spend some time in Croatia and Greece and then go to Turkey.

If you could reverse your route we can stay in touch and maybe ride together in Turkey.

Hi codingrobot, If you can let me know when you plan on entering Turkey I can work around that. Do you have a route for Turkey in mind?

I don't have any time schedule because I'll be pretty much free. No apartment, no 9 to 5 job... I guess you will be the one to setup the time table. I'm on Transalp 700 and off road is ok as long as the road leads to a beach or a nice campsite :)

Currently I plan to enter Turkey through Marmaris. Your route is ok with me, except I also plan to visit Cappadocia

I'm pretty much free as well, just have commitments until mid June, I'm aiming to be on the road by the 19th. If I head straight for Turkey I think perhaps 8-9 days should do it so Istanbul around the 27th/28th.
I was in Cappedocia (Goreme) last year, could possibly do it again or I may go South onto Cyprus instead. Either way we have a plan coming together.

This is my blog from last years trip....

As you'll see it was straight down the centre of Turkey, I was trying to get close to the Syrian border but got persuaded not to by the Turkish Army....

This is why I want to do the coast this time round.
Accomodation wise do you camp?

Hi there I may also be interested in joining you from UK to Turkey but I am travelling on a 30yr old 200cc Honda CM Twinstar although very reliable it's not the fastest so maybe not lol What sort of distance are you thinking of covering per day it looks to be around 200/250 which is doable on my small bike but because I have done Luxembourg in a day (different bike BMW F650) and didn't really enjoy the Motorways I was thinking this year of meandering along the A/B roads and enjoying the journey more than the destination, also I was thinking camping one night cheap hotel the next I am not as adventurous or as young as I used to be!
Originally I had planned on leaving the UK 19th May but everything has been put back a month so setting off for 3week trip either to Turkey Morocco or as far east as I get in 10 days through Poland Latvia and on to Estonia. Who knows where I will end up have petrol 3 weeks and a need to travel lol
