Vancouver to Tierra del Fuego in May 2017
Hello,
I rode the TAT last year and now I will be taking my bike down from Vancouver to Ushuaia (if I can get a cheap deal maybe get to Antartica?!) then head up to Buenos Aires to fly back home to the UK... I'd be very glad to know anyone who is on the road somewhere on this route betweeen May and August... Its a vague shout but I have got to start somewhere! There is so much info to sift - I'm all ears for any tips, best routes, borders, best avoids... I'd like to do some good trails esp after I enjoyed riding the TAT so much. All the best and thanks in advance! Will https://billyedit.wordpress.com/ |
Heading South
Hey Will
I read your post and noted some similarities. I too rode the TAT last year on my KTM 350 and am now in Panama on my KTM 690 trying to organize shipping across the Darien. Just wondering where you are and your plans? I live in San Francisco , CA Later Brent |
Hi Brent - good to hear from you - I arrive Vancouver next week, get the bike fixed up and head south the following week! Sadly that means I'm a little way behind you :(...
Would love some tips on the route highlights and borders so far! Will |
I'm riding from Toronto to South America starting at the end of April. Haven't decided if I want to do Ushuaia due to it being winter there.
PS. I doubt you will be able to find an Antarctica cruise from April to October tbh. |
Ahh, yes I'll have to ride slowly and arrive in November... failing that it would be good to meet up for a border crossing or two?!

Yeah that could be a solid plan. I am planning on getting through CA pretty quickly though.
Monterrey May 6 Panama City June 1 is my current goal. In between is somewhat ambiguous, but I am hoping to do a SCUBA course in Utila around May20 |
