West Africa via Morroco Dec. 2017, 4X4 camper.

Proposing to head down into Africa in December 2017. Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal and so on. Travelling in diesel, Russian, ex military 4X4 camper.

Anyone in a 4X4 of any kind interested in casually joining us? We've been to Maroc a number of times, Mauritania once. Relaxed travelling speed, stopping a day or a few days here and there. We are very experienced overland travellers and lots of mechanical knowledge. Speak a little French.

We are Australians.

hi Aliprovidor,
i am currently planning something similar, have no real timetable or fixed dates to stick to. i was thinking of being in Morocco around Christmas time and then heading south at a very sedate pace enjoying the journey and places.

are you heading all the way to Cape town?
I am an experienced motorcycle overlander but have now converted to a 4x4 camper for my future overlanding.

would be very interested in discussing joining you for some crossings etc.

Hi LTD!
Yes, Christmas in Maroc is about what I was thinking too. Head south as the cold comes down, spend a little time at Dakla, go via Choum to Atar, down to Tidjitja then Senegal.

I'll send you my email by Private message.

Anyone else interested?

Even if you are not travelling at exactly the same time, we may be where you are going to be at some stage.
If you are on a bike and want to go Choum to Atar through the desert we might be able to carry your gear to lighten the bike. Make it possible for you.

That approximates to our plans. We have an Iveco 4x4 camper.
We will set off in September but spend a month or two in Spain Portugal on the way down. Morocco for Christmas (maybe in a location that family can fly out to us).
Then going South at a leisurely pace and trying to see special places away from the tarmac road.

Where are you now (over the summer?)

Aliprovidor 24 May 2017 11:14

Hello Mark.
I have been up and down the coast previously to the Mauitanian border and inland through Mauri down to the Senegal border as well as the main road Noakshotte to Nohadibou. Around Morocco about 4 times. Lots of nice places. I'll send you an email so you have my address. Love to meet up.

Going down west December- January? Bike or car we may be able to help each other some way, have a camp together at some place.
Maybe cross a border together, take a track that you wouldn't take alone.

Make contact so it will be easier later.
