Who wants to ride the Trans Canada Adventure Trail?
Hi. I am planning to ride the Trans Canada Adventure Trail from east to west. Though the mapping for this route is not yet complete the organisers are hoping to have it finished within the next couple of months. I have included a link about the trail below. The recommended time for the ride is 10 weeks and I want to undertake the trip during June, July and August 2013. I have undertaken a number of long trips often solo and have realised that it is more enjoyable and rewarding riding with a companion. That said I can now take a nifty self portrait photograph. I am currently based in the UK but will be moving to Nova Scotia, Canada in Jan 2013. If you are interested in joining me on this trip then please let me know.

For me it's only by bits and parts that i'll end up riding it all, I'm no long term companion but we might happen to meet and ride a few thousands km during annual leave days. Please post you plan later on, I trust there will be a special window for it on other forums as well. I suspect many riders out there will be getting dirty the very minute the tracks are made available. In the meantime let's sponsor the guys behind the scene by purchasing some stickers and other promotional material at Gravel Travel Canada They've done an amazing job!
There are a number of enthusiasts across Canada that are accumulating tens of thousands kms offroad tracks that can be accessed with a smile and some thanks. This is a land of opportunity and serious riding but the season is short, you'll figure it out. Welcome to Canada. |
Thanks buddy. I think that it will be awesome and hats off to the guys and girls who are putting it together. I suspect that I will have to wait until I have moved to Canada before I can find anyone who wishes to ride it with me.

It looks great.
The Dempster, Canol, Campbell are all fantastic, especially late in August. Labrador . . . "the land God gave Cain" - Jacques Cartier. :) |

Trans Canada Adventure trail?
Hello,
I have been looking for a partner to ride with me to Alaska but via the Trans-Canada Highway. I currently ride a Triumph Bonneville and while it has demonstrated it can ride dirt, I prefer to ride on pavement with it because it is lends itself to that more. You said your trail will be posted soon, perhaps it is still under development. I have taken a variety of long rides alone, ie. coast to coast in the US, Boston to the Panama Canal and back home, 15,000 mile round trip. I do agree, it is so much nicer with a companion. If you are still riding and we could figure out what to do about my bike, by all means, contact me. However, I am a teacher and can launch a big ride only after June 28, 2013 by returning the last week in August, total riding time about 60 days. Looking forward to hearing from you. This is my site and how you can communicate with me. http://www.missrider.com/index.html Madeline (aka - Missrider) Quote:

The route is completed and posted now . Gravel Travel is working on getting a better system now including the route with printable maps with GPS points to places to stop IE gas, bike shops and places to stay I hear they are 80 % done that now. Looks like it should be a great track to follow. The G.T. guys say its better to start in the east and work west ,but as I am at the far west of it and rarely listen to people who know better will attempt it going west to east. at least as far as mid Alberta then heading down to the states to get onto the Trans America Trail. Following that west, then who knows? Maybe back north to refit for a longer ride to South America and beyond.:mchappy:

Two years ago, the TCAT was the main reason I decided to learn how to ride off road. Sadly, since then I've not had the time or the cash (and I'm still learning off road skills) but would love to read about your travels when you go - don't forget to post on the HUBB!

Sorry that I have been lapse in my replies
Hi everyone. I have now moved to Nova Scotia and in the move I have not had a lot of time to reply to posts. I am more keen than ever to do the ride but no longer have a preference whether to travel east or west. If those of you that expressed interest in the ride are still interested then please reply. I will also try to answer each of your posts individually.
Cheers. |
