Advice needed please
Hi
There's a guy from OZ on one of the other forums asking for someone to ride a bike he's thinking of buying in the UK and ride it to Turkey :D( for him to do a tour of the Middle East) I'm thinking about this but have a few questions about it for you seasoned travellers:- How would I stand riding a bike that's not in my name on the V5 document ? Would insurance be a problem ? I would be looking at travelling through non EU countries Croatia,Albania etc what problems would this might cause ? Would I need carnets or visas for any of this ? Any other problems you could foresee. Thanks for any advice :thumbup1: |
I think you should be fine with the paperwork ditto insurance but a power of attorney from himself for you to ride the bike might be good backup.
You wouldn't need a carnet or visas for that trip. Some countries might sting you for extra insurance at the border - for some reason getting a green card out of a UK insurance company is like getting blood from a stone I did that trip with a dodgy looking hand written proof of ownership from my local DVLA because the V5 hadn't arrived and still had no problems, from what I recall most of the borders you are going through just wanted the passport. I think I got my complete paperwork out once in Slovenia |
