Advice on UK Customs and insurance for indian Import

Hi,
I'm importing a R Enfield from India and would like to get it touch with people who have already imported one or any info on insurance and customs.
I want to know if there is any insurer that will insure the bike on its Indian number plates to ride the bike home from port.
Also any advice or experiences on dealing with ports and customs.
Carol Nash told me they can't offer any on the road insurance (‘do they can insure for damage but not to ride it).
Ebike seem to be ready to accept the policy but I’m not sure their web based systems is taking into account that the bike’s number plates are Indian.
Any info or help will be most appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

Carole Nash gave me 30 days cover when I got my Oz bike back. You'd need to get your bike UK registered and then they'd continue the cover.

You'll prob need and SVA test and have to deal with Customs & Excise for the import duty (think it was 10% of the value they gave it) and VAT.
