Australia to UK - 1 Way Trip
Howdy All,
I'm a UK citizen and am soon to take up a job in Sydney. I plan on staying out there for a couple of years or so whereupon I plan to buy a bike in Australia and to ride it back to the UK. I will then remain in the UK and so I guess in that instance I'm technically importing a bike into the UK. How feasible is this as a plan in terms of necessary paperwork etc. and what documentation would I have to arrange in Australia? How about issues of UK passport but Aussie registered bike travelling through SE Asia, China etc? What costs would I be liable for once back in the UK? Is it even worth considering this as a plan? Look forward to some help on this one please. |
As you are persently in the UK you can ring/write to the people that determine such things are get the answeres from the horses mouth (customs, MOR etc). You may be able to select a bike that is avalible in OZ buty not avalible in the UK!! If you want to do that .. be aware of teh spare parts that may not be avalible over the counter in the UK...
As you'll be staying in OZ for some years you'll have a OZ address .. and an OZ driving/riding licence .. I think your UK passport may need to have the address changed to OZ .. have to check that .. if so then all the addresses and names etc will match thus keeping the paper work people happy! Teh fact that the nationalities are different won't worry most of them - as long as the names and addresses match ... |
