Is it better to ship a motorcycle from Australia or purchase overseas?
 

I am looking at doing a trip to South America then over to Europe. Is it better to ship a motorcycle from Australia to south America or purchase one over there. I am thinking of a bike to take mabe Honda crf250l or DRZ400. Keeping it light The problem is getting out of Australia cheaply it might not be worth bringing the bike back to Australia but could be worth leaving for future use. I am slightly spoilt for choice. Thank you for your advice.

I used my Qld regod bike for nearly 2 years 20 odd countries. While I was paying for Carnets and expensive shipping and worrying about import/export/insurance/bordersRiding through places I had no interest in.

I watched my friend, Fly into Sri Lanka and buy/sell a bike seeing the whole island, then she brought/sold and Enfeild and did Northern India. Then she flew to South America and brought a XR250 and she is still going.
I think she did the right thing. This overlanding thing is just silly. There are motorbikes everywhere why stress about taking your own. Its a machine
