Black sea loop
 

Hi all
I've done plenty of travel (motorbike) in Europe and Morocco over the years but this time i want to go East


Anyway what i'm after is info on these countries regarding paper work and Visas

Please bare in mind that i hold a British passport and my bike DR or XT (thats another story) is French reg

French Ins. covers all the named countries except Russia and Moldova

So heres the list

Italy.......OK

Slovenia....OK

Croatia.....OK

Montenegro..?????

Kosovo......?????

Serbia......?????

Bulgaria....OK

Turkey......?????

Georgia.....?????

Russia......?????

Ukraine.....?????

Moldova.....????? (may miss here if i have time to get to Kiev)

Romania.....OK

Hungary.....OK

I'm open to all suggestions and ideas i'll be camping , wild and sites and the odd hotel with a 4 to 5 week schedule

Due to leave at the end of May ....ish

What bike ?????????????

I bought the XT660Z for the trip , tried it on the last Maroc trip and its a great bike but fcuking heavy !!!

Then there's my Donkey DR650 ..... IMHO the best bike i've ever owned

I don't know !!! time will tell and there's always to DR250 to fall back on

Only visa i see you need is for Russia, i suggest you get a double 30 day entry visa (no need for 1 year multi entry business for this trip) and not single to be safe as you can only get a Russian visa in the country you hold your passport (UK)
if you decide to cross again back in

As for insurance you can buy most at the borders you cross.

Which way are you going clockwise or anti clockwise?

For Georgia you cant cross into Russia along the black sea coastal road in Georgia as there is a country called Abkhazia which you can only enter from Russian side and then cant cross into Georgia from. it you go to Abkhazia (not only Google maps) in which you need a visa for then you will have problems going into Georgia so prob best to miss Abkhazia out all together for this trip

For crossing Georgia to Russia (or other way round) you will go Kazbegi in Georgia to Vladikavkaz in North Ossetia in which the route is very beautiful

I'll be doing it anticlockwise route and hopefully lots of wandering

Harty please excuse my ignorance but what is ex RM? does that stand for Rally Mechanic or some think ?

If so it would be good to go with a Rally Mechanic i am sure for any breakdowns
