Buy Russian Car Insurance Online?
 

In my experience, the insurance brokers in the kiosks at Russian borders charge highly inflated prices for basic OSAGO insurance in Russia. In the past I've often risked it and bought insurance in the first town, but I was wondering if anyone outside Russia has bought Russian car insurance for a foreign-registered car over the internet, from a company such as RosGosStrakh or IngoStrakh?

Good question--I've never seen it offered on line, but frankly haven't looked very hard either, I usually buy it in Moscow at the beginning of each season. If you find an online source, please let us know!

I spent the entire summer of 2013 driving through European Russia from Murmansk deep into the Caucasus and the Green Card from my European insurance was valid everywhere making it not necessary to buy Russian insurance.

Thanks, but if I had a green card for Russia I would obviously not be asking about buying insurance from a Russian company.
