Buying bike in Australia
Hi!
I'm planning to go to Australia and buy a bike and drive around for three months or so. My question is: If I buy a bike with rego left for this time, what paperwork does this require? Do I need to have a permanent address in Australia? /Tage |
Hi Tage, and welcome to the HUBB
Short answer to your question is definitely NO, you don't have to be an Australian resident to buy a bike there, and it is much less hassle to buy one there than to import one from abroad. There's lots of info on this subject in various posts on the HUBB (that's why we have a SEARCH facility on every page ;-). These should get you started: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb...ML/000123.html http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb...ML/000278.html http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb...ML/000003.html http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb...ML/000021.html Good luck with your trip, don't forget to check out the Trip Planning section of the site itself http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/tripplan/ and also there is a HUBB forum on Australia/New Zealand. ------------------ Susan Johnson "It matters not what goal you seek Its secret here reposes: You've got to dig from week to week To get Results or Roses." Have a look at www.betterbikes.com.au, www.tradingpost.com.au for bikes and www.nrma.com.au for insurance. www.rta.nsw.gov.au for rego info
