export plates possible for USED bikes in Italy?
I read somewhere that export plates are only obtainable for new bikes. Could anyone dispel this? I'm particularly curious about how it happens in Italy.

No, not so for Germany at least. Lots of Turks, Romanians, Bulgarians buy old motorcars here and ride them with export plates to their home country.

You seem to have missed
The fact he does not have a motorcycle licence. This would definitely be a problem in UK and France as any insurance would depend on him having a valid licence. It cant be any other way, because if they insured him to drive whilst unlicenced they would be aiding and abetting a crime :( I suspect if the cops stop you anywhere in Europe you would be in trouble.
You need to get bike licence. Having said that it is not too difficult in the UK. Armed with that your bike buying difficulties are sorted, because then a UK insurer would insure you providing you could give a UK address for them to post to. This would also solve your registration problems. I do not know how difficult it would be to get a french licence, but bike owning in france is easier and cheaper than the UK. |
