Hi Guys
I need a quick clarification about the carnet at the end of my trip.
I am planning a trip from Ireland to Oz (where I will stay for a few months) and I am just beginning to get things together. My question is once we arrive in Australia is it possible to pay the import tax on the car and sell-scrap it there. We really dont want to have to bring the car back to Ireland. Is this possible or do I have to ship the car back to Ireland.

A visitor cannot sell/scrape the vehicle in Australia if entering under cover of a carnet as that is primarily the reason for carnet issue/use in the first place.
