Carnet - Australia
Hello to everyone,
I have a question and hope to find an answer from any of you wise travellers. I currently live and work in Malaysia, I am an Italian national and i m wondering, if i buy a motorbike in Australia to start my world tour, which i know i would be able to do, would i be able on the other hand to obtain a carnet du passage for that bike from the australian authorities to take the bike from Australia onto next destination??? I will end the trip back in Australia and sell it off. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks, ride safe :scooter:bier |
Yes, foreign citizens can get a carnet in Aus no problem. I'm a UK citizen and got a carnet on a 4x4 registered in my name in NSW. Depending on which state you buy in it might be worth getting an Aus licence too. In NSW insurance is cheaper with a NSW licence compared to a foreign one.
