Carnet de Passages and importing
 

Hi

At the end of the year I'm leaving the UK and Driving to South Africa where I will stay. I need advise on how it works regarding the deposit for the Carnet de Passages and importing my car to South Africa.

I do have all the paperwork in place for importing to South Africa but need to know if you will get your deposit back from the Carnet?

Any advise will be great.

I am doing it the other way so will have a RSA carnet. My understanding is that i return the carnet to the RSA AA with proof i have imported my bike into the UK and I can then get the deposit back from them.

You can't get a Carnet in the UK any more. So I'm now looking at getting one from the AA as well. Not sure how this will work.
