Carnet Requirements???
Hi,
I came to realise that there is no motoring association of any kind in countries like Kazakhstan, krygystan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. Does that mean that you do not need a carnet to geting your bike into these countries? What do they check for when you cross the borders? I intend to rent a bike in Kazakhstan, do a ride looping into the neighbouring stans and then back to Kazakhstan. Is it feasible? Will I have problem with the bike at the borders? Cheers. |
I don't see how it's possible for you to get a carnet for a rented bike. You won't be able to get a carnet if there are no motoring organisations anyway.

It is just like if you are on a european registered plate bike, you do not need a carnet to cross the borders into the neighbouring countries. Also, No carnet is required if you are riding into malaysia, thailand, cambodia and laos if you are on a Singapore registered bike beacuse they are all part of the ASEAN countries. So, since there are no motoring association in central asia, and that I will be riding on a rental bike (Which is a local bike, which is a central asia registered bike), my guess is that I do not need a carnet to just ride into the neighbouring countries from Kazakhstan to krygystan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan then back to Kazakhstan. Am I right to say that? I am not sure. Can someone please advise? |
