Chile and Argentina
 

Can anyone comment on the process of crossing between Chile and Argentina multiple times as one drives south along their border?

The route I have planned has me crossing back and forth several times over passes and beautiful roads.

If I get a visa for each country lasting the maximum time allowed, I can cross as many times as I please, yes? As for the Bike import permission, will I have to check into an aduana each time?

Just ignore the border and hope for the best?

You just have to exit and enter each country doing the temp import/export process every time I'm afraid. Not that bad and usually pretty quick.

I can enter/exit using my Chilean and Argentinian Visas as many times as I want within the expiration dates I hope.

Right. Easy, do it as often as you want. Don't fret.

Sorry, same goes for your passport stamps, you'll get one in/out of each country but it certainly makes your passport look pretty fairly quickly.

Don't be in a hurry, enjoy it, lovely country down there.

I could only agree to the statement. I am currently travelling and it is not a big deal to cross the borders as often you want to.

Only the crossing from Chile to Peru took me four hours!

I´m playing the bouncing passport stamp game in Patagonia right now, it´s a pain especially now as the holiday hordes are about to descend upon us causing traffic jams at all the popular crossings. I have 3 pages left in my passport but so far by asking nicely the border people are multi stamping my pages. It is a pain, but it really is worth it and when several years ago I asked an immigration officer in the TdeF passport stamping fiasco why a tourist couldn´t get stamped into the ´Cone´once the stamped out on their departure, his reply was "in Latin America (and other places I suspect) the polititians would regard it as handing part of their territorial rights away and not good for votes". Take a book and a bottle of water and people watch.
