civil servant tourist
Hi guys,
In september I'll start my transafrican trip by motorcycle from Belgium to Capetown. I will travel along the east coast of Africa (egypt, sudan, ethiopia, kenia,...) I'll have to deal with some nasty border and redtape hassle (visa, carnet,...). I heard that it could be an advantage if you are a civil servant or government official regarding crossing borders. I work as a government youth worker/educator In Belgium, so official civil servant. Anyone got some experience at this? Thanx in advance! |

If you get asked what your profession is... well you are "a worker" ! at least that what I told the border guards.. and they are happy with that... alternative you could be "a teacher" too.... I never told them that I was a Journalist, even if loaded with cameras like a Christmas tree... "worker" or "robota" or "tourist" can't be wrong... and is right in a way... |
Being a teacher or a member of Search-Rescue team makes some difference when you are face to face with a border.Better you meet a customs officer who likes motoriding.
If you include İstanbul in your route, our club members will be pleased to meet you and have welcome drinks and adventure talks with you. wish you all the best. zeki avar |
