Copy documents if you lose them...
I have lots of spare webspace and am going to put copies of my passport, V5, licence, etc on there so I can print them on the road if I ever need to. Happy to offer that to anyone else who wants to do the same - I can password protect separate areas. But does anyone know the best way of downloading photos to the website on the road ? My digital camera will need emptying occasionally but I won't have website software in an internet cafe - how can I either update the site on the road, or just dump the photos in to the site so I can use the storage ? Cheap and simple ideas please.....!

If your website can be updated with FTP then you can use Windows Explorer or the FTP command line program in Windows. If your website is called ftp.mysite.com then you can auto-login with Explorer with a shortcut like this: ftp://login:password@ftp.mysite.com

Thanks - that seems to work. I can't edit the page, but I believe if I create pages now that link to what are currently non-existent file names, I can then change my pic names when uploading them. That will mean a page full of pics and no text, but thats better than nothing......

Editing is different: download the page, edit on local PC, then upload with FTP.
