crossing countries with plateless scooter
 

Hello!
Many thanks for peoples replies to my carnet question. I've now discovered that I can only actually afford to buy a scooter in Russia. This idea is actually quite appealing in some ways (I don't know if anyone's seen dumb and dumber...) but I anticipate big problems at borders. I've noticed that russian scooters don't have any plates so I'm guessing you don't get vehicle registration when you buy one here. I want to take one from russia through Ukraine, poland, germany and france but I've no idea whether I'd be allowed to enter a country with a scooter with no plates. Can anyone enlighten me?
