do i need a carnet
 

i am planning a trip from algeria to cape town would it be possible to do the route without a carnet many thanks

I am currently driving from Kenya to South Africa with Kenian reggistered bikes but this also applys to other registrations. Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and Malawi have what they call Temporary Import Permits which cost anything from 5 us up to 25 us and allow you entry up to one month with your bike. Next were off to Namibia/South Africa but forsee no problems as other people have done the same trip without Carnets. Sure saves a lot of money.
