e-visa for Turkey
Although its available to buy visa stamps at all bordergates easily,
you can also pay your visa fee and get it online within minutes.. Your visa document will be sent to your Email afterwards.. Just print it out and keep.. Here is the link to government website for you for this purpose.. https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/apply/ Best Wishes |
It would seem that you now need to get an e-visa for Turkey as from April they will no longer issue them at the border. I just did mine online & was a very simple process, you get a 180 day, multi entry visa valid for 90 days in country for $20. Just print the emailed document & your sorted.

Thank you Mehmet!
I became a German national in 2012, it's a better passport than my British one for travelling in this region. Looking forward to my first time in Turkey with the car this summer :thumbup1: |

A couple of us are meeting up in Istanbul around the 18/19th of May to continue east shortly after all the way to Mongolia. do you have any suggestions for a nice hostel where we could meet and stay a couple of nights, with safe storage for the bikes. We will be minimum 3, maximum 5 people. Will appreaciate any good tips. Cheers, Noel |
@noel
Its very hard to recommend a place as expections and prices have many levels..But if you say, must be economic and close to the touristic part, I can write 1 at sultanahmet, and 1 at Taksim, both approved by my foreign friends several times.. If you are planning to stay at Sultanahmet which is the center of touristic İstanbul, can recommend antique hostel for a cheap solution and silent street..Roof is excellent.. Antik Pansiyon Istanbul Sultanahmet - Ucuz Istanbul Pansiyonu Around this one, many hotels available with different qualities and prices serving to all levels of budgets... This is the top hill area very close to st.sophia so you will not need to walk uphill to the center every day.. Parking is a problem but 2-3 bikes always park free in front of this building and there is a private parking lot very close..You will see it while walking down between blue mosque and sultanahmet park. If you have to visit some consulates at the bosphorus area, can write another hostel close to Taksim Square so that you can reach embassy buildings in bosphorus area by 1 bus line.. Arch-ist Hostel - Beyoğlu / İstanbul Booking online for both ok. Hope helps... All the best.. |

I guess you still have to do the motorbike import thing even though you have the e-visa?
|
My credit card address is different from my home address on the vehicle registration form, will this cause complications when applying or when I take my vehicle in?
What do they ask for in the application and which details actually appear on the e-visa? |
Ah so for me no worries at all entering Turkey from Iran as a Dutchie. Great! See you in a month

Thank you very much for your kind assistance Mehmet.
I'm not visiting until early next spring , so after looking at eligibility dates on their application web site will not apply just yet otherwise 180 day period will expire before I want to leave Turkey. This 90 in 180 days visa situation is not like old days. I'll post here when I do apply. |
Email gremlins: Quite common apparently from searching with google.
I filled the details online but their email confirmation link for the application has not arrived even after resending it (Nothing to do with spam filter). The evisa application times out after an hour - Great! I used the form on their site to contact them and promply received what looks like an automated reply suggesting that my email provider was at fault and I should try gmail or Hotmail (now Outlook dot com) and make a new application. Well I signed up for an email account as suggested but I could have crossed the border several times by now. Too tired now.... me and forms don't inhabit the same time and location in space too comfortably. Will try again tomorrow. Read of one guy who made eight attempts before succeeding. |
