Have we left it too late for West Africa?
We are currently near Sidi Ifni in Morocco with plans to head south at the weekend, We will visit,
Mauritania Mali Burkina Faso Ghana Togo Benin The question is have we left it too late temperature wise? We don't mind it been hot but not unbearably hot, We also have a dog to consider. Have anyone been in these countries at this time of year? We was thinking maybe head for Ghana first and spend time in Burkina Faso, Mali and Mauritania on the way back. We are in a unimog so it would still take us 4/5 weeks o get to Ghana. Thoughts Please........... |

no experience myself but that might give some guidance.. |
You should be fine.
I was in Morocco around this time last year heading in roughly the same direction. Inland Mauritania and Mali will be hot from April onwards, but should be bearable providing you aren't doing any extreme remote pistes. You might want to watch out for the rainy season as you hit the coast later. The rains come to southern Ghana, Togo etc from about June onwards. Still do-able but it is not so pleasant to camp at night! |
