importing bike from africa to europe
Hye,
I'm still on my way to France on my tiny oped 49cc, got it inssured for europ, but wonder a lot about custom as I'll get in Europ... I know there's paperworks for cars, and registered vehicules, but mine is quiet small.... Does anyone think I'll have to pay a kind of import tax of else? What about if I put it in pieces and transport it in a truck? Thanks for your advises, vince http://africanmoped.over-blog.com |
Oups, I forgot to say that I bought the bike in Burkina Faso , and never pay anything to clear custom tax at any borders.
thanks vince |
Since you are an EU citizen you can do what I did: just ride right in. No paperwork, other than rego and Green Card required. As long as you don't settle down to live somewhere and keep using it nobody will bother you.
I used several German registered vehicles in France for 7 years. Never even had to pay a parking ticket. http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/biggrin.gif A neighbour keeps his NY registered Mercedes permanently here. I don't suppose it's insured, either... If you get stopped by police or have an accident make sure you are "visiting". Disclaimer: all of this is illegal, of course. ------------------ Salut from Southern France, the bikers' paradise, Peter. |
