Income Tax Status While Travelling
I am normally resident in the UK. Does anyone know if I would be liable for Income Tax while travelling.
I will receive income from renting my House and from some Savings. Thanks. |
Yes, officially. There may be ways round it but you could well end up looking over your shoulder for the next 6 years. Don't forget you have a tax allowance to use up before you pay any tax and you can probably offset any maintenance costs (and possibly mortgage interest) on your property while it's being rented. See an accountant if the income is likely to exceed your tax allowance.

I don't know if this still applies, but my mate is in the Navy, and he said that he didn't pat tax if he was out of the country for more than six months in a year, In fact he used to take holidays abroad during his leave if he hadn't done a full six months away, he even told me the the ship used to sail outside the uk limit to qualify for being abroad
He doesn't get this now though 'cos there's not enough money for fuel for the ships so he spends six months berthed in Scotland instead :( |
