insurance in USA
In 4 weeks I am leaving for the states (from the uk) to complete the trans am trail on an american xr400.
I am having a real nightmare sorting out the bike insurance for the trip 'cos I dont have an american licence and bike is an 'off road' model. Any ideas? Ta. Dave |
Try Country Companies Insurance. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think all you need is a physical address in the US where they can mail your insurance card (No PO BOX). Specify that you need a "Yellow Card" for Canada coverage as well if you plan to cross the border. The price for coverage varies depending on where that physical address that you gave is. If you pick a small town, far from any large city, then your rates will be very low. For an XR-400, I can't imagine it to be more than $300 for 6 months of Full coverage and if you don't use your whole 6 months, they will only charge you for the time you used it.

Hi Dave
Check out Motorcycle Express, who do motorcycle shipping as well as insurance. They insure European riders in North America, and have a special deal this year because of the HD 2003 Anniversary Rally (you don't have to be going to the rally to get the rate, though). Here's the link to their site. Please be sure to tell them where you heard about them. Cheers Susan |
