Iran Carnets
 

I am trying to plan a trip from Europe to Pakistan via Iran but my local carnet issuing authority (ADAC) have told me its not posisble to issue carnets for Iran at present due to customs problems.

Has anyone had any experience regarding this recently?

You don't actually want the carnet NOW anyway as you can't get in or anywhere near it.
No one is going to Iran at present, so until the pandemic is under control I would just keep planning - and be sure to plan an alternate route just in case. We will all need to be FLEXIBLE in our planning for the next couple of years at least, as there could be surges and borders close at any time.

The plan was to travel and use a transit visa as my final destination is Pakistan

You're not going to find anything newer! :(
At this point you're collecting facts / experiences and extrapolating forward - what will change, what will stay the same? We just don't know, so all ideas are valuable.
