London - to Cape Town
Dear all
This is my first post and I know I still have lots to learn. I have started to build up a plan and logistics folder for a long (one year) drive from London to Cape Town. One of the big challenges is going to be the carnet de passage. We intend to drive from London to Cape Town but not drive back. If I understand the rules correctly you conly get your deposit back when (if) you return your car to the original country. This would be a to a big a hit on my budget! What am I to do? Is it possible to "export" from teh UK and "import" into SA and then get the carnet issued from South Africa? Even if I am driving from London? Any suggestions are welcome. Gerard |

Hi Gerard,
I'm doing the same trip and just coming up to the same challenge. When are you going and what are you driving / riding? |
