Mauritania visa from French Consulate in London?

Hi All
Lonely Planet indicates that its possible to get a Mauritania visa from the french consulate in London, and their web site seems to agree, although its not exactly clear. Is this possible and or a good idea for us, intending to drive down and enter from Moroc and go onto Mali?
Many Thanks
James.

Getting Mauritanian Visa in London

I'd be interested in any advice on this myself, it seems that the Mauritanian Embassy in Lonodn has closed. I will need a visa for late January...

anyones' guess!!

I've got the same thread running in the Saharan section, myself and another chap (Richard) have both phoned the French embassy in London on different occasions and got different stories, so the answer is that no body seems to know for sure at the moment. It looks like I will try and get the visa on the border as this doesn't seem to be a problem at the moment. Richard sounds like he may try and get one through the French in London, so we shall see. We will both probably post our results in that thread in due course.

Mauritanian Visa

Thanks for the info, appreciated. I'm also sortng a visa for Mali, which means a trip to Brussels anyway (I can fit this around my job). I wonder if the Mauri embassy in Brussels can issue a visa?

It's not so much of a problem for my trip in Jan/Feb, but I'm back there in December 08 leading an expedition of about 14 bikes (to Guinea Bissau). Ideally I'd like to sort all visas in advance, rather than destroy a day's riding while everyone sorts out visas in Cassa...

If I come up with any UK based solutions, I'll let the HUBB know.

Cheers

Craig

Got mine from Paris for both Mali and Mauritania - actually Bert did it for me so he may be more useful if you'd like details.

Just through from the British Foreign Office, there is a Mauritania embassy in London, anybody have any experience of getting the visa there?

Visas are required for entry to Mauritania. You should get a visa before you travel from the Mauritanian Embassy in London, 235-237 Vauxhall Bridge Road, Victoria, London, SW1V 1EJ, Telephone: 020 7233 6158.
